Dackeyia Sterling is a journalist, entrepreneur, speaker and trainer on the topics of entertainment career development, acceleration and strategy. She created the Entertainment Power Players® Directory and brand during her junior year at Howard University, as part of a business plan competition. She was looking for a stellar entertainment industry reference directory to help her transition from college student to entertainment professional – and soon recognized an incredible opportunity to launch “EPP.”
Dackeyia Q. Sterling is a native of Vallejo, CA. She earned her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and scored a once-in-a-lifetime internship at National Public Radio (NPR) before establishing Key Quest Publishing, the parent company for “EPP.” Her early power moves in Los Angeles and the MD/D.C./VA area, work as a celebrity manager’s assistant, creative executive, Hollywood talent agent, freelance writer (Black Enterprise, Upscale Magazine and L.A. Focus) led to the launch of the Premier Edition of Entertainment Power Players®, with Kodak as her Presenting Sponsor.
“EPP is all about entertainment career development,” Sterling shares. “Of course I want you to buy and use the Directory to the fullest - but I also want you to know that there are tons of resources that can help accelerate your entertainment/media dream and get you to your ideal career a lot faster. The fact that EPP is a catalyst to entertainment career advancement and development is a thrilling ride!”
Sterling, a current member of the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), really enjoys mentoring emerging talent and networking with industry POWER PLAYERS. Highlights of her career include exclusive interviews with songwriter Diane Warren, producer Rodney Jerkins, NASCAR #24 Driver/classmate Jeff Gordon, building relationships with industry powerhouses, inspiring EPP student organizations at Howard U. and Florida A & M U., hosting her own radio show, exhibiting at Book Expo America, the American Library Association Conference, the national Public Relations Student Society Association (PRSSA) Conference and numerous speaking invitations – including American U., the Art Institute of Washington, Fordham U., Harvard U., Howard U., Morgan State U., Penn State U., U. of Dallas, U. of Memphis, U. of Southern California (USC), the U.S. Dept. of Labor and many other entertainment, educational and publishing conferences, festivals and events.
